A film photography toolkit — five precision instruments in one quiet app.
HALIGHT is a native iOS app built for film photographers who want to shoot with intention. It replaces five separate tools — a light meter, a lens calculator, a Sunny 16 reference, a long-exposure timer, and a film development timer — with a single, minimal interface.
Designed around how photographers actually work in the field. The meter reads your scene and maps exposure to the zone system. The lens tool shows depth of field for any format from 35mm to 4×5. Long exposures are corrected for reciprocity failure using a handmade database of 70+ film stocks, painstakingly compiled from manufacturer data sheets and real-world testing.
Meter — Real-time light metering with zone system visualization
Lens — Depth of field and hyperfocal distance, 35mm through 4×5
Sunny 16 — Visual reference with six lighting conditions and long-exposure mode
Borders — Film border overlays for compositing authentic frame edges
A complete darkroom companion. Develop is HALIGHT's most ambitious tool — a full-featured film development timer built on top of the handmade database.
Select your film stock, choose your chemistry and dilution, and Develop pulls the exact times from a curated library of development data. It accounts for push and pull processing, calculates dilution ratios, and adjusts for temperature shifts — all from published manufacturer specifications and community-verified data.
The timer walks you through each step: pre-soak, developer, stop bath, fixer, and wash. Agitation reminders keep you on rhythm. It's the tool that turns a chemistry-heavy process into something you can do confidently, every time.
Whether you're running a single roll in a Paterson tank or a batch in a Jobo processor, Develop gives you the precision and the peace of mind to focus on the work.
